West of the Mark is an award winning country band from Buffalo, NY. The band has been a finalist for the "Buffalo Music Awards" four years running 2006-2009. A finalist for "Art Voice Magazine's 'Best of Buffalo'" three years running 2008-2010 and winning the award in 2008!
West of the Mark was founded in 2004 and was a "Featured Band Profile" in Nightlife Magazine in February 2008.
The band has opened for 22 National Acts since 2004 with 6 more slated for 2010. Past opens include in 2009 : Big and Rich, Cowboy Troy, Gretchen Wilson, Steve Azar, Heartland 2008: Luke Bryan, Lee Brice, The Oak Ridge Boys, Josh Turner, Josh Gracin, Flynnville Train, Rhett Akins, and Laura Bryna. Other highlights include Marty Stuart, Confederate Railroad, and Mark Chestnutt among others.
This band has an energy on stage that is hard to rival. The passion they feel for playing is felt by their audience at every show. With a collection of songs from the 90's through today and a few classics in between, they appeal to a larger band of people. They play favorites from Garth, Tritt, Chesney, Urban, and Dierks to Johnny Cash and Marty Stuart. Many of today's hits work their way in as the band strives to stay current and relevant, still paying tribute to those who come before!
The Buffalo radio station WYRK 106.5 FM has had the band host a weekly party "Country on the Coast" last year for a run of eight weeks in a row and have been asked to do it again in 2010. Widely regarded locally and now in Rochester, NY as one of the finest country bands in the region, continuing to spread their wings. Even so called non-country music fans enjoy the show this band puts forth. It is a high energy band that delivers on a nightly basis and is growing in popularity with each performance.
